The Nightingale.

The nightingale sings at dusk above the lawn

His song is pure; full of freshness of the dawn.

                        *****

The Cricket.

It died singing. What did it leave behind?

Empty shell that the shifting sand will bind.

                        *****

The Glow-worm.

The amorous cricket sings loudly about love.

The Glow-worm lights up n' flies silently high above.

                        *****

Birdsong.

A bird sings freely, always pleasantly,

Unconcerned about captive audience;

Need have no regard for small pleasantry,

False praise, discord, or any ambiance.

                        *****

Ravello (Italy)

(two snapshots of the same Piazza.)

In the sun

Like a canvas, full of colours laid on with a knife,

The piazza is bursting; it's a riot of life.

In the rain

In the mild drizzle on the piazza

Walks an overcoat with an umbrella.

*******************************************

Three pieces in search of God.

Who needs God?

If God did not exist

He'd have to be invented;

For Man cannot resist

To Him being indebted.

Man would be lost indeed

Without such deep felt need.

                        *****

Who is who's creation?

They say that God created Man.

I'd wish to believe it, but then

There could be a revelation

If God were Man's best creation.

                        *****

Finding God.

If you wish to find God high in heaven

Walk by a river in the velvety dusk,

Look skywards, search amongst the stars and then

Look down to find Him in a speck of dust.

**********************************************

Fishermen.

They cast their nets a million times

Yet they never ever caught any…

Star's reflection in the water shines

And will stay there for eternity.

                        *****

Friendship?

My friend shook my hand

Saying: "I like you.

Need your support and

Hope you continue."

Now here comes the twist:

He's my analyst.

(I don't really have one' but for those of you who have: Watch out!)

                        *****

Men - Women

Women are complex, delicate creatures

Endocrine functions can turn them to rile.

One which especially often features

Produces an overflow of vile bile.

Men have simple minded tunnel-vision;

Their vices are simple, many or few.

They think no matter what the disruption,

There's nothing that can't be fixed by a screw.

                        *****

Man near a bed…

Often when a man is near to a bed

Finds his penis, whilst he loses his head.

                        *****

The pen and the sword (& some other bits).

"The pen is mightier than the sword."

In the past it used to strike a chord.

Nowadays, as I some poetry scan,

It dismays me to find now and then,

The penis seems mightier than pen.

                        *****

Diplomacy.

When a whore tells you, you are small,

Take it for granted: that's what you are.

When she calls you great: that's protocol;

In diplomacy she would go far.

                        *****

Sexual equality.

Sexual equality?... Who's kidding who?

It is just a feminine assertion.

Women can fake orgasm with great ballyhoo

But could a man ever fake erection?

                        *****

The world's gone crazy…

The world's gone crazy; it's plain for all to see.

Who should I feel sorry for… the world… or me?

                        *****

Doomsday forecast.

Those forecasting doomsday all got it wrong.

Earth will not end with a bang or a wham.

When it will happen it won't take too long;

It'll grind to a halt by a paper-jam.

                        *****

Time.

Time is an illusion; and you can be sure of

That even illusionists will run out of…

Interesting little poems indeed! I enjoyed them. I especially like the part about the fishermen and the eternal stars that are in the water; and about the sexual inequality. How true they are!

Wonderful little writes!
