A heart wrenched with sadness,
For a sister, gone, too soon…
Things were said & guilt prevails;
Oh, God, please help!

Too late to say I’m sorry…
Too late to say I love you…
Though I say it every day...
God, please let her hear.

I remember the days…
We were inseparable…
Laughing our cares away…
Then God took her home.

Why do we say things,
That we really don’t mean,
And hurt the ones we love most?
God, tell her I’m sorry!

It’s her birthday today,
I sang to her this morning,
And talked to her all day.
God, do You think she heard?

I’m lying here in bed,
I sense someone beside me.
I turn and there she is!
God, don’t let me be dreaming!

She leans down and hugs me,
I feel her arm under my hand,
She says, “I love you, Debbie”.
Oh, God, thank You!

I say “I love you, too”
Then she’s gone in a breath
Her love & forgiveness clear…
Oh, God, what a wonderful gift!

I lost my younger sister, June 2001. It's something you never get over. I miss her terribly...
