How can you live if you don't allow yourself to breathe....

Been trying to say goodbye to you….

Goodbye to all the lies, shallow words, confusion and pain that you represented.

Been trying for a long time, through the tears, sleepless nights and anger

But all I have achieved is more of the same.

How do I say goodbye to something that I don’t want to let go of, yes… you heard me…I don’t want to let go of you because I would have to forgive me first.

Forgive me for not allowing God to guide me especially when I didn’t know what to do. Instead, I allowed my hungry and lonely heart to choose my path. I did not understand the laws of the universe and what I needed, to guide me safely through this life, through the unknown. I ignored my inner voice and discarded my spiritual compass.

Now, I have to forgive myself and I have to forgive you, so I can begin to

BREATHE....

I feel suffocated. Smothered by the past, by my decisions, my failures; failure to understand that what I need to sustain me, is within me,

But it is time to clear the air, to understand the past and all that you represented and thank you so that I can forgive myself and forgive you,

I BREATHE…….

Goodbye to you and thank you for allowing me to see what I was and who I am now.

Remarkably profound and like a cutting tool your pen slices deep truth into these feelings to bring a decisive healing. I like the way you put the word "breathe" between stanzas, it gives the poem so much impact. Well written!

Dear Ms. Bascombe, I read this poem, and I truly understand you. I believe that every human being, at one point in his or her life passes a moment of truth. Now that you realized yourself what can really guide you in your life, you can start listening the this inner voice and be confident that the path will open for you. God Bless you and guide you to His Light. Love Emile

Stuff You Can Say Everyday by D. Mullis

My son wrote a book of his personal, one liner quotes. Never underestimate the power of simple statements! A very interesting read!
