The silence is a lonely friend Quietness so often offends In solitude thoughts become my home Without distraction lost and alone The phone rings but its never sincere No one calls, least no one that cares Night finds me abandoned by sleep In darkness my mind starts to creep Thoughts just endlessly race How did I come to this place? 4am I fade into dreams Always angry with conflicting themes Morning taunts me, won’t let me rest Another day, put to the test Alone in a cold empty room Alone in a cold empty room Copyright© Michael R Wood 2002
