This was inspired by a painting of the same name by Roberto Azank. I am very fortunate to be friends with his amazing, sweet, creative wife, Moni, and was able to find out about his stunning work. You can taste his colors, they are so beautiful-so if you would like to check out his work and see this print, go to the website below. :)

It is in the 9th row across, 4th one in from the left

White glares on the perfection of a love whole

but is this shelter around fragrance and desire

a foreign thing with crooked teeth still biting

at the petals we peel away with shaking hands?

Look into my center when you pull and pluck

each lip of sensuality curving to your fingerprints

each tender darkness revealed in the folds I open

for a display of the passion we keep under glass

no matter if it is upon gold that we place this thing

this thing we created with the watering and light

orange-colored promises left on our silent tongues

where words fade into the black of what might be

in other times and places where impossible gardens grow

into the walls of glass we surrendered to the break of day

no longer a trapped beauty with tears the color of blood

but a free bloom with hearts wide and going on for miles

being particularly fond of Monet, Picasso and Lautrec, the gifted artists have always held fascination for me -- just as the gifted artisans of verbiage have -- once again you have delighted me with your gifted verbal rendering Michelle -- LOL -- JMW

Once you identified a painting for me, Flaming Jane, I had to search for it to get the full value; for that I thank you. Now, because I love art so much, I've gotten to making it a habit of checking out paintings more and more, altho I always did in the past...just wasn't quite so specific! I love art museums and visited the Dali to Monet in Nashville several times this past summer, just taking in the beauty of each piece. Your writing is similar..it breaks down the piece into words, yet your words are so visual that one can see the colors as we read. Quite a talent. lindalaw

I love the way you interpret a painting, making it fresh and anew in verse: one sees while reading. That's talent. Well done, Michelle!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

The capture of an inspiration, whether it be person, place or thing and the ability to turn that capture into such an exquisive write is a talent that few truly master. Michelle this poem makes the reader dream of possibilities where hope is thin but desire is strong. Very nicely done.
