Inspired by a painting of the same name by Reg Stark, oil on canvas

His website: http://thestarkcollection.com/public/pag1.aspx

His bio is really worth reading, too.

yesterday i woke up with night still curled up in our halves

with his feet of snowy white on the backs of bare calves

he was a half so perfect just then, i felt distinctly incomplete

without him beside me beneath these flowered old sheets

like a cloud he passed over from my head to my toes

blowing sweet kisses off the sheer petals of a rose

and he was heavy upon me with a love like hard rains

it poured so deep inside me, that some still remains

though my feet walk on stone grey without your blue eyes

it's your soul that surrounds me in the sun's daily rise

so that whether i feel your big hand swallow up mine

it is not such as these that true passion defines

but it's the moon that we share in yesterday's dark sky

to remind us that even black carries light deep inside

and if we look there for each other with a telescope heart

we will find that in raindrops sometimes miracles start

a beautiful love story indeed -- with meter, just so -- poetry from a remarkable pro -- JMW

I enjoyed reading this beautiful poem, so typical of your voice, Michelle. Clever rhymes, so that I hardly noticed them. What a good metaphor via a love poem for "Yesterday" and life. I like a "telescope heart." Thank you for this poem.
Peace,
Kathy

Rich metaphors imbued with life's essence - a portal between lovers and paradise, such an animating presence here in these lines, Michelle...this is poetry that could enjoy the afterlife and also the site of conscience...there's much heart balance in this and it has an otherworldly feel to it like from afar telescopically telepathic Yesterday...be well, Michelle...

Started to quote from several places that I liked, but suddenly realized I had highlighted the whole darn poem! Thanks Michelle, that poem was exceptional in its quality of capturing private moments and feelings that are whisked away too quickly to write. Well done! Rockie Coppolella

Yesterday has past
Who knows if tomorrow will last
Take a deep breath
Save the best
For today
And it'll make like time has faded away. . . . .
Really enjoyed reading.
