This was inspired by the painting "Tranquil Moment; San Gabriel Mountains," pastel, by Peter Adams (see link below)

http://www.californiaartclub.org/resources/golden08/adams.htm

It was also inspired by an Adam and Eve and Angels thing. St Michael is my name Saint, and I have a real devotion to him. :)

Poem Artwork

A long ago bronze bird with shimmer wings

had cut into the mountainside and springs

wings widespread and a tail tickling the sun

a chorus of angels on high have now begun

all feathered wings get softer the higher you go

upon the forest floor while the trumpets echo

Saint Michael thrusts his sword into the land

all the animals follow through on his command

travelers are we, myself and my bright northern star

my guide that gives me strength when faith is far

we see Saint Raphael nod his head and point the way

to where our peace and love shield us from disarray

Saint Gabriel’s warning ignored by small-minded men

bent on adding more destruction to the what has been

mocking simplicity in favor of supreme love of self

in a roundabout that never stops except for wealth

we find much left here on the calling of the birds

for us to make our love speak beauty’s words

rocky cliff walk towards the edge of God and life

one foot wrong for us to become nature’s strife

shale slipping, souls teetering on some distant brink

we watch from our seashore home as they rethink

the messages ignored in Saint Gabriel’s trumpet call

man’s abuse of animals and nature is well-recalled

I cry within your arms at what man has become

you who knows my heart and where I’m from

nature’s soundless cries weave through the trees

away we walk from this earth and man’s disease

A totally captivating walk along life's journey amidst its beauty and perils...I shall keep my eye upon my 'bright Northern star' for strength and faith shall see us through to find our Peace and Love...Stunning! Love and Hugs, Diana

Many facets to this montage. One that is diisturbing is that the San Gabriels are burning.

the artwork is breath-taking, Michelle, and as usual you capture spiritual dimensions within the light and scope of your expressed thoughts and sentiments. I love what you extrapolate here: the wonder and the warning. Such ambience as captured by both your poem and the picture is the dwelling place of mysticism and supernatural experience. The aura of the painting is indeed angelic. Inspiring as always. xx

...away we walk from this earth and man's disease... captures the essence of this painting so eloquently AND is exactly how I feel and what I experience on a spiritual level when I paint. You amaze me Michelle. Well done. J'nia

Taking on the corrupt side of mankind with strong lines and verses is this poem's strength and power. This, "I cry within your arms at what man has become" say it all. If words had failed you and all you were able to pen was that one defining line, the poem would have been a a pure gem. Thank you.

I can't add much to what Allen said except you do paint a magnificent canvas of words with bold sharp brushstrokes that invade the mind tempered by soft sweeps that touch the heart. This is one of your best I must say as well.

Michelle, this has to be one of your best thus far. You expertly blend in the elements of things seen and not seen except through the eyes of faith. Couple that with the insensitivity of man in regards the beauty and the gift from God…man, oh man, so caught up in himself without regard for those who shall follow his steps. I liked every aspect of this piece from the Arch Angel who shall blow the trumpet, to Michael whose sword is double edged…well written and much enjoyed.

Allen
