well, i hear there's a lot to cozumel.

the sand is pearly white.

the water crystal clear as a pane of glass,

in the deep spots clear blue ice.

 

but why would you go to cozumel,

when there's plenty of sand blowin' in

from the street?

when 5.99'll buy you fine wine

and you can enjoy the view in the east?

 

well i hear there's a birthday party

waitin' to be had down there.

but your buddy's all down-trodden,

stepped on a crack i hear.

well there's drinks a waitin'

at some bar -

the one only you know by name.

and there's food a fittin' every tall tale

that added to your claims to fame.



and there's beauty all around

like nothing anyone's ever seen before,

and the ghosts of parties past and present

are waiting for a future with you to explore.



and the fish are all a swimmin'

between the coral lined reefs,

and the sun misses your body

and the way it takes to the heat.



no these cement pillars aren't palm trees,

and the asphalt ain't no powdered sand.

the natives here more restless than there,

and the water ain't much safer to drink.

but you can still get tan,

and i'll still get golden brown,

though there's probably a lot more

dangerous radiation.



but i'll write you a song in our island home,

and hope it brings you the smile

that you need for

a very happy birthday anyway

and a toast of fine 5.99 wine for

the good things to come to those
