i smell her first,

the cool air announcing her presence

way before she ever enters a room -

leather and citrus ambrosia for the senses

stirring up what only human touch

can overtake.

 

reaching into the darkness

i meet her,

the heat from her body

radiating towards me,

bridging gaps that soon close

with her entry.

 

i wrap my arms around her neck

and pull her down,

welcoming her to my world

as lips press against lips

and familiar rhythms revive

to dance once more,

reminder of

ribbons of time

wrapping her and me so closely

that only fabric kept us apart,

a time when a kiss became an embrace,

sweet bite upon the core,

and an exchange of two breaths

becoming one.

 

as we cross the threshold,

she reaches out and pulls me in,

encasing me in the strength of her arms.

 

she patiently guides my every step,

opening doors that

long held untold secrets for years,

begging me to reveal all,

to fall back into the journey

that she personally creates

with every motion that guides

me closer to our fate.

 

like the refreshing first drops of a spring rain,

she washes over me and slowly,

what was frozen begins to melt,

the subtle warmth beginning and

building into a heat that frees up

all the frosted emotions,

giving birth to what becomes a raging river

that both of us ride

until getting lost in the sea.


then as suddenly as she came,

i awake to find the scent of her fading

into the darkness and the realization that

all i had left with me was the dream

and the sweat that remained lightly

glistening on my skin,

then I turned to the woman next to me

and there she was again.
