my heart begins to ache

at the thought

that soon

you'll be leaving.

'tis monday, again,

and as the real world

returns like an

invading army

onto the shores

of a peaceful island,

life's necessities

raise a flag

and take us back into

their existence.

two days crowned

weekend,

more of a beginning.

for you are the air

that refreshes life

from an open window.

gentle breeze

through cotton,

sheer ecstacy

in a touch.

i close my eyes,

and i taste you,

remember only

hours before

how the warmth

of your body covered me,

lips telling tales

that no ears can hear,

but by body language

are told quite clearly.

when day is through,

my dearest beloved,

i will welcome you back

where you belong,

where your soul kiss

never leaves me.

'til then, i will hold you near,

force myself to complete

my life's routine,

the joy in my day knowing

that soon we will be one

again in the same place

at the same time

 at the end of

the evening,

for in spirit and heart,

there is no division,

no degrees of separation,

just the mere fact

of distance between

destinations.
