Swallow from the South

For the woman behind the masquerade and the days and nights that create our life in the beauty of our home - thank you for "you"....

She reached out her hand in the dark and

Slid down her palm through the branches

Seemingly seamless until she reached their peak

Seeds cradled in between tight lipped folds of

Sun flower petals trimmed short to the touch

Savoring the sunlight she brought through the

Shadows peering through white washed wooden

Shades streaming the light of day as

Softly as the trickle of a dew drop falling

Slowly to the ground

Saturating the rich earth with

Subtle hues of golden threads

Slow-dancing across the flowered bed

Sparkling with silk kisses drawing the

Soul of her lover resting beneath the palm

Sipping each moment

Splashed with precisely placed

Splendor like a the tip of a dipped brush

Strokes the canvass one bristle at a time

Smoothing over the edges and

Saturating her in sweat and the

Sweet savory scent of the South that

Sails upward on the whispers inhaled through

Supple wisps rippling over every inch of hot

Springs springing forth from the well

She’s hand dug, life giving water

Swelling, bringing the wetlands with her

Silver tongue preaching the word

Seek and ye shall find, reap what ye

Sow and the truth

Shall set you free,

Shout hallelujah and pass the plate

Salvation is near! And the angel in her pocket

Sang, “Sanctuary” as the bells rang,

Sable pelt wrapped around her arm dripping with

Sugary pearl drops of delight, a

Second hand rose pulsing deep inside

So ready to burst into bloom, not waiting for the

Signal to turn green, running red lights before

She runs out of steam,

Slow motion rider,

Stamina in the middle, little

Sachet for later,

Southern comfort in

Season, flame flickers now

Succoming to the

Splendor she’s

Spread between her fingers

Steeped in honey

Suckle and honey dew

Surrendering with a final blow

Shot between scented magnolia leaves

Slightly parting, revealing glistening ruby seeds,

Savored as sweetly as a

Swallow from the South.

Look Away Silence by Edward Patterson

Martin Powers wanted an ironing board for Christmas. Instead, he got . . . Matthew Kieler, a non-returnable gift, but a gift that kept on giving. A powerful tale of survival, compassion and unapologetic love in the time of AIDS.

Another Way of Being by Sion Liscannor

A (shockingly) truthful autobiography with elements of fantasy, philosophy, and historical fiction.
