a tribute to MR. KRIS

sunday evening
just gettin' up
it's past my sup-
per time
ain' that a thing
just seekin' my own rhyme

spent all night
tryin' to write
a wrong
with the words of my song
tryin' to right
what's long gone
so long

got my night's
and my day's
all mixed up
just sleepin' aways
just tryin'to write's
the nights
aways
then it's sunday evening
just gettin' up
tryin' to fill a half empty cup

still seekin'
a song to sing
still thinkin'
of what tonight
might bring
still seekin'
a poem to bring

still peakin'
at yesterday
and it's sound
and what i'd found
knowin' what came around
when the night
passed it's way
into today

still
if you will
sunday evening gettin' up
is a better cup
to drink
than sunday mornin'
comin' down
least that's what i think

still writn' away
with what i have to say
the mistakes
of yesterday
doin' whatever it takes
to get thru today

sunday evenings'
just gettin' up
waitin' for what sunday night might bring
a half full
or half empty cup
maybe a song to sing

that be my "golden rule"
that be the mule
that i kick
least i ain't no old fool
lyin' on a bar stool
'till he's sick

"do unto others..."
oh brothers
that be anothers
rhyme
maybe i'll write it another time

sunday evening's
sunday nights
all things
that daylight
or sunday night
bring
just gettin' up
is better than
"sunday morning comin' down"
i love the song
but i hate the sound
of sunday morning comin' down

but it is a song i sing
when the words come around
"sunday mornin' comin' down"

sunday evening
gettin' up
with a half full
or half empty cup

a better sound
sunday evening
when the sun goes down
is better than
sunday morning
when the sun come's up
and sunday morning's goin' down

Interesting write.
Curious to know what's in your cup when you get up Sunday night. Surely not coffee???
