to those of us late at night
who choose to write
those who find sight
with no light
to those of us
who cuss & curse
who no it's worse
in day
than at night
we poets
who poem
in the dark
we that know it's
hymn's showed to them
in pieces & bits
in the darkness
in night's starkness
each of us seekin' the light
we who find
words in our mind
in ash trays
and an empty bottle
goin' full throttle
under the moon
and the stars
knowin' soon
words are what they ares
to the painters
who paint
what ain't
to preachers who aren't saint's
to teachers who teach what ain'ts
to driver's who drive at night
each of us seekin' the light
to singer's who sing
under night's wing
those who hear a tune
under the full moon
knowin' soon
tomorrow
will begin
again
to those who lay awake
knowin' life's at stake
but they still take
the night
and write
searchin' for the light
to those whose day
is each night
their way
of finding words to write
to you and me and them
a lonely
night time rhyme
a hymn
a song
only
the night time
tell's us
the word's, or art
or that part
of us
we cuss & curse
late at night
when we write
or paint
or teach
or preach
at night when we reach
for the light
a poem for you
a write
for me
late at night
waitin' to see
the light
late at night
