for the darkness
with it's starkness

to pray
to write
to poem
to poetry

some right or wrong
to write
late at night
from midnight
until sunrise
from 12 'till 4 or 5
i come alive
with poetry
with history
with a memory
with me bein' me
it's always
darkest before the dawn
so they says
about the twilight zone
that unknown
time
'tween midnight & dawn
that time between
the darkness & the seen

love & life
all happens in that strife
in between
the moon & stars
and sunrise
with it's own disguise
it's lonely guitars
it's own songs
it's past aways
into yesterdays
it's gones

afternoons
come to soons
mornings
are mornings
they light of day
just waitin' to pass away
into
the blue
of night
and another day
that passes it's way
into
midnight
until sunrise

each day has a disguise
from sunrise
until night
until midnight
when the light
comes from the moon
and stars
when my words have their wars
when my song has it's own tune
