i been pushed around
and pushed down
lost my voice
made the wrong choice
found my song
lost my sound
found what i found
layin' on the ground

i been around and around
howlin' like a blue tick hound
been a man about town
a back door man
an old hand
a dandy Dan
took a drink
didn't think
started to sink
i didn't blink

forgot i had to pay the band
drunk 'till i couldn't stand
stool tall after my fall
answered that far off call
hit the wall
that was all
bounced like a rubber ball
bounced back
lost track
lost my way
had nuthin' ta' say
bought it on E-Bay

lost my git up & go
went with the flow
was a no-show
i didn't know
thought i knew
what to do
didn't have a clue
voo-doo
hindu
me & you

went straight
too late
stood at heaven's gate
couldn't wait
they wouldn't let me in
too much sin
had to begin agin'
and agin'
and agin'
what then?

i been hung out to dry
wouldn't, couldn't die
had to lie
learned to cry
had to try & try
after the last "Good-Bye"
don't ask me why?
got high
got low
got layed
began to fade
into blue
over you
started to go
but NO!

i been where i was
did it because
i missed the applause
heard the laughter
of the everafter
after all
i took the fall
heard the call
been pushed down & pushed around
layin' on the ground
i found
the sky
don't ask me how or why
i learned to live, forgot to die
after the last "Good-Bye"

Bravo Steve! Nothing better than to adnit our foibles and be honest about how far we fall before we wake up to the truth. We all can identify with your poem for we all have been there if we are honest enough to admit it. I know I have! Live well, you earned it!;-)

Love,
Eileen

For one I am happy you made it this far...or I coulda missed out on having you as a new friend!!

But overall...life still remains a bitch..and I for one HATE goodbye's..and maybe the reason for my own suffering!!

Well written deep touching piece here Cowboy!!
