Somewhat special are walls
They beckon our call
Whether of stone gathered by hand
Or mixed with sand
Stand tall you stiff monsters!
Mythic waves of ramparts true
I wondered if there are clues...
Come with me dear friend
on a quick journey a wall sends...
There...ooh...a lover’s tale with a pierced heart
initials of two never apart
Oh, a bird’s nest true to form
Gathered straw and branches
protection against the storm
Say, there’s even one wall with a count
of over 50,000 names
on a mount...
Another was an iron curtain
made to keep people in
but that’s not for certain...
I’ve seen the one in Jerusalem
called the Wailing Wall
with tiny little messages
for us all...
Peace My Wall
Of many pages of history time will tell
Here this wall has seen some of hell
Princes, Kings, and Queen processed
with clashing, ringing bells
From Medieval times to X-box
sentinels true captivating the lot
Now they stand silent in the rain
as if bent with crooked pain
Where spots are without stone
Is a hole for anyone alone
Through all seasons, they last
some crumbled
some fell from blasts
But there is balance
with their stance
Good neighbors love the wall
the friendliness and love
oozes like s sweet tart
Touching all hearts...
You changed my perspective of walls with this write. I have always thought of walls as confining & needing to be broken down...not as protection and with a story to tell.
