Poem regarding Pearl Harbour

Pearl

In the early morning hours
came a whisper of a song
a gentle breath of wings
whose patience had all gone.

When the dawn came creeping
came the rising of the sun
and the iridescent red
in bloody rivulets did it run.

And o'er the land like wildfire
wings spread like never before
no more a simple mayfly
came the dragon with a roar.

Her gnashing teeth came gleaming
with claws that rent the peace
to kill the sleeping giant
her rage without surcease.

The dreams lay like cold ashes
lying crimson in the sun
the air hot filled with blossoms:
age of innocence undone.

No more the land of dragons
come credeping slow at dawn
to catch the giant sleeping
armed with her dreadful song.

Those songs are for the children
where betrayal lies asleep
for words are now the weapons
her promises to keep.
