MEMORIES
As I sit here
Alone
On the beach
Looking out across
The waters
That seem to
Majestically play
With the setting sun
And seem to go on forever
Up to and pass the horizon
I close my eyes
And slowly start to peruse
The library of my mind
To muster up all the images
And audio
Of you I can find
As I look at the images
And replay the sounds
In my mind
I start to reminisce
First I laugh
Then I cry
And start to question
WHY
Were you taken away from me
So violently . . . So suddenly
It seemed one minute you were here
Loving me
Hugging me
Encouraging me
And the next minute you were gone
As the flood gates open
And tears uncontrollably stream
Down my face
I am suddenly encapsulated
In a warm and loving embrace
I realize
That I am not alone
and
I finally understand
What you were trying to tell me
Even though family
Tried to hurt me
By stripping me
Of all your material possessions
I thought kept you close to me
They can never
Take away
Wash away
Give away
The most priceless possessions
That has been bestowed
Upon me
Memories
