The elders always would always tell me that it was possible to be in a crowd and feel alone. I thought that was silly and it never made sense. I guess that was the naive child in me. That same naive child still resides inside my adult body, but is now forced to look at adult reality.
Enjoyed this deeply moving observation on cultural unity and literary purpose. To me, ALONE IN A CROWD illuminates how poetry for some is mostly an amusing pastime; while for others, it is an important creative tool with the potential to help correct any number of social and political wrongs. The artist who consciously utilizes her poetic art to address the human condition will often find herself singing a beautiful solo, to which many individuals will respond for a long time, rather than a crowd-pleasing group effort likely to entertain only for a moment.
A write that I can relate to my friend, you've captured the mood well, creating many thoughts in the readers mind! Enjoyed this, glad I stopped by your den...welcome aboard!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

You can be alone in a crowd and still be among poetic friends in the millions-excellent poetry
The mood of your poem prompted a great deal of thoughtfulness. I think we all have experienced that "being alone" feeling--and I suppose its stronger for some than others. But we all need to remember how important each of us, as an individual is, and that if we love ourself we will know we are never alone again.
