America has shown the world that its citizens can unite and have a common goal, the last election overwhelmed the world as Americans proved that determination. We salute you America!

(Note: Lest I be misunderstood, the "darkness" I meant here was the hopelessness and discouragement that was felt by the nation after the financial crisis, and was not directed at anyone in particular.)

ARISE ...SHINE!

The cry has been heard,
The vote has been spoken,
The light has come forth
Morning has broken.

Americans fell in line
Through their votes so united
Spoke the light : "Shine!"
Darkness was defeated.

The fight's been declared:
Arise! We have hope!
We have faith, we must work,
For together we will cope.

Though the battle be hard
There's no time to whine,
Only time to move forward
With heads high: Arise...Shine!

(A Prayer)

"Arise! Shine! Your time has come,
for the Glory of the Lord is risen upon you. Darkness as black as night shall cover the peoples of the earth, but the glory of the Lord will shine for you. All nations will come to see the glory of the Lord upon you.

Lift up your eyes to see! For your sons and daughters are coming home to you from distant lands. Your eyes will shine for joy, your hearts will thrill, for merchants from around the world will flow to you, bringing you the wealth of many lands."
