When my son was five years old, he had a toy car which was battery operated and had "bump and go" features. After a few hours of play, we discovered he had dismantled it and removed the windshield, and when I asked him why, he told me "I wanted to see the tiny man inside driving it." He became a creative graphics designer later in life.
A rare gift that is spawned
From the challenge of Demand,
It is the seed when sown
Becomes the Mother of invention.
New ideas and fresh designs
From the most unlikely sources,
Multiple births of fertile minds
Producing things of many uses.
Creative minds are never idle,
Ideas come from constant thinking,
Of wasted time there's very little
As focus centers on problem-solving.
In our anvil of originality
Sharpened and molded like a tool,
This golden gift creativity
Comes not from many years of school.
Encourage then the child who dreams,
The child who's curious and asks questions,
For his impossibilities may seem
Creativity's ladder into fruition.
Children, all the time, past, present and I am sure in the future, will be underestimated, because we forget that old say, "children say the most darn things" which for "adults" standards are nonsenses until you stop and analyze it and tell yourself why you didn't think it before.
You captured one of the proverbs: Raise up a child in the way he/she should go, and when he/she is old he/she will not depart for it. The key is he/she should go - the talent of the child.
When two men hit the reset button and decide to go out looking for the good in the world, they not only find it but also a lot more.
