Her poems
The deepest thoughts aroused:
I caught a glimpse,
In the reverberatory furnace
That is all my mind’s refracted images,
Of her reflected light—
Reflected on the words, in black,
Transmitting messages irreversible
Not to me alone.
But oh, the wanton urgent need
To throw through time,
Towards its origin for once,
For her sweet virgin mind,
A kiss—
And live with her
In simple ways, as in the Eden days:
Our purest flesh enfolding
Never-ending mutual bliss in the mortal time—
And supramundane thoughts unrolling
Impulses, crashing through ether
For the first time.
This anodyne
Snapped into mind once,
Is now lost.
Sapped away,
She will never know
The soul impressed by her Rosetta Stone.
