I.

Your tears 
  – for the father you never knew?
  – for the mother gone too soon?
            roll down flesh 

            weathered by an exacting father time,          
            smoothed out by kind and caring mother earth 
                        and her attendant universe.

            They fall
like healing drops of a crystal rain,
like beads of rosary, wisdom’s pearls,
restringing a reality

            altered by life’s coursing river of change,
            fixed as one permanent variable,
                        a function of cosmic chaos.

II.

Mystery  
  –  how can I know your tears fall, or why,
  – how can I presume that you agree?
            Yet I feel

            overflowing pain of wound reopened,
            empty place in heart, missing source of light
                        that requires reordering.

            It Rises
like sun of love sure to shine again,
like moon of hope that holds you ‘til then,
beaming comfort, compassion like

            waves of energy spiraling through space,
            steady prayer and my persistent presence,
                        me holding you, healing with you.
