Energy
between us,

  heat,
    electricity,

            mysterious current,
            magnetic attraction,
            momentous moments
   
                        on which the world turned,
                        then reversed into

            revolving conundrum,
            rotating puzzlement,
            ravaging misery;

    high-voltage journey,
  shock

to you. I
stagger still,

            stumbling through flatline fields, a zombie.
                I feel nothing, see nothing, do next to nothing.
            Except when I sleep. Then, dreams come, and

things hum, buzz,
and life stirs.

  Jolt
    takes me back again

            to laughter like raindrops,
            to teardrops like singing,
            to feeling so alive

                        that I couldn’t breathe
                        but didn’t need to

            because my spirit flew,
            because of what you knew,
            because I so loved you.

    What was I to do?
  Lie?

Deny force
of nature?
