Moon shrinks and I, mere earthbound reflection, give way to its waning.
Love grows for that once-in-a-blue-moon way you lent your light to me.
Dreams die; memory of fullness lives on, an eternal promise
Of life. You may wax philosophical, say we are night and day.
Now, see – our energies combine, build up, wind down and re-engage.
I shrink, disappear for days, then shine bright in velvet sky. At home
with stars, I bask in your mirrored rays in this wide universe.

I've been thinking about the moon lately... thinking about the tides and the influence the moon has... waxing and waning and everything... this goes along with that... people wax and wane too... great writing... it keeps me thinking ;)

Dawn, a terrific piece of poetry, laced with inner turmoil, then culminating in a grand finale. Wonderful creation, Poet. Well-done.
'Better Without You'is a compelling narrative that explores the complexities of an affair, hidden secrets, and abuse. It also highlights a daughter's heartfelt journey as she cares for her mother who is battling dementia.
Beautifully written bittersweet poem!
