Spooned with an August crescent moon – call me crazy, a cock-eyed loon. You’ll say I’ve gone too far too soon, that I’ve chosen some safe cocoon to living full beneath the sun.
But by light of day, it’s my way to stretch out head to toe. I lay me down in fields of grains that sway. They make me swoon. I sometimes say, “I must be still when day is done!”
Having borne heat of brilliant noon, I embrace night, resplendent moon. It’s more than pure escape, retreat. My time with night makes me complete, provides release with howl and croon.
I’d appreciate some leeway. Please, just let me live life my way. Strange as I am, these hands and feet would stay near, clap to beat and love you every single night and day.
A wondrous poem Dawn, beautifully expressed
