Help! Truly felt the suffocation, smothering and the coils of death around my throat with this power-punching poem, Dawn. Goodness me, an absolute nightmare, being buried alive - but worse still the desire for it to happen!! Just waiting for it to, in fact. I'm going to take this as a "poetic voice", Dawn, as I know how skilled you are at taking us deep into situations that you are able to conjure from the depths of your perceptive mind. This almost brings on a sense of panic attack, it's so real. Very well done - and just you make sure YOU keep breathing!! TY Kate xx
Powerful write dawn, as I read this, I could not help but think of the days when a bell with a string attached to it ran into the ground where the departed had been lain...that was to make sure that if they were buried by mistake, that they could upon waking from their death like sleep...ring the bell for help. I know that this was written in a different context, but I could not help but get the same feeling...the feeling of being buried alive...and hoping that there was a bell in which to ring. Superbly written piece.
Oh my Dawn! This is so suffocating! I'm gasping
to think of it, and hope you get out of it quickly!
No one should ever have to feel like this! Superb poem!
I feel the pain and sensation of being trapped. Your expression is universal -- something most of us can relate to. That's plain good writing. Your subject follows true to its title. Great job, Dawn. Thanks for posting this.
The deep-dive literary meditations presented as stories, poems, and essays in The American Poet Who Went Home Again, A Mosaic of My Soul at Work, have captivated and inspired readers ever since its first paperback publication in 2008.
Very much enjoyed!
