by sharp sword
of naïve ignorance
I lay drowning
in a crimson pool,

stunned
by the smack
of your satisfaction
with your righteous,
dutiful cleansing,

shell-shocked
by echo
of screams silenced by wave
upon wave of
heavy mortar fire,

land-locked
by Army
of foot soldiers loyal and
determined to
“deal with your problem.”

Anguished
by deep gash
in me, I prayed you might
open mind’s eye and
see your wounded heart,

burdened
by distance,
division, density
of betrayal’s
weight upon your soul.

beyond veil
of what you thought you knew.
Consider:
things were not as they seemed

Hear
this good news:

by our wounds, we are healed.
Release all
pain; let love lead your way.

Smell
aroma
sweet, spices exotic.
Breathe deeply
of love’s fragrant choices.

Taste
future joy
tickling tip of your tongue.
Imagine
that love can make us whole.

Touch
gentle truth
of love’s rich abundance
waiting there.
Let go and love again.
