“There’s been no change,” doctor says.
“His heart’s still beating, but he
            doesn’t know.”
   Interminable hell of
status quo.

“All in favor?” Deed is done.
Society sinks further.
            A new low.
   Populous opiate of
status quo.

  Rich stupor of opulence
intoxicates the masses,
            hearts in tow.
   Damnable drunken daze of
status quo.

  Slip under the radar, do
just enough to just get by.
            Just like so.
   Slip-sliding sub standards of
status quo.

I was going to comment on the alliteration in the last few lines but Jude already beat me to it. :)

This is a very powerful piece about the state of the world today... it's sad how true this rings...

Excellent proposition raised here, Dawn, and executed in your own inimitable style - you wield the knife which Jude talks about below very well! "The status quo, like a sandbar lapped by waves, is a slowly disappearing foothold". TY Kate xx PS thank you for your lovely reviews! xx

These Black and Blue Red Zone Days by Aberjhani

Just as life during the pandemic was color-coded with different hues representing different levels of danger, life in its aftermath has become shaded in similar ways. As a self-styled “Seeker of Beauty with Beauty,” (borrowing from a quote by W.E.B.
