You turned the radio down, told me you suffered from tinnitus, a ringing in your ears.
Odd, I remember thinking, that you should suffer exact same malady as my ex.
Coincidence? But there’s my high school sweetheart, too, who said he couldn’t hear anything
because of the noise that was inside his left ear (although I always thought it to be
a convenient excuse). But that was perhaps a bit unfair; I did not understand. So, today, I picked up a book and learned the condition has been linked to refusal
to hear one’s inner voice, a stubborn resistance to embrace the truth of who you are.
And then I had an “aha” moment, reading the cure was to hold love and love alone,
realizing none of the three of you seemed to find the courage to face self, let love be.
Allergies, it seems, are mere symptom, brought on by failure to make your place in the world.
Addiction? An inability to see – to really see – the wonder that you are.
Impotenceis just another way to say I am afraid of mother, losing me.
These descriptions seeming so to fit, I turned the page to me. My ailments have to do
with feeling unprotected, unsafe or open to attack – poison oak, the weight gain,
even the mysterious foot rash from childhood. I read my tendency to lose it,
melt into insanitystems from a desire to escape, represents violent
separation from self, life itself. I must re-mind, think, think again that this mind knows
path to freedom, “creative point of divine self-expression.” I think I can. I think
there is more to life’s mysteries and maladies than first I realized. I’m sorry.
The mind suffers and the body cries out - or in this case gets a buzzing in the ears.
This was fun Dawn, and full of truth as well. People do tend to invent their own defences againt reality.
