Where the river bends
expectant waters reach, stretching
toward something it can sense,
taste, smell, almost touch
almost.

Currents flow, follow,
fizz with effervescent foam.
Gathering momentum
white-capped passionate waters
rise.

Surging now, pressure
builds. Stirring waters swirl,
in need of release. Undulating
swell laps, licks waiting
shore.

Water finds its ground,
changes state, merges to mud.
Messy business it is
to reveal oneself.
Come,

Surrender. And then:
perfect calm, tranquility. Longing
to know, to be known fulfilled,
river rests in arms of earth:
one.
