I had never heard of Laura Nyro, so I looked her up and was surprised that she was at the 1967 Monterey Jazz and sang her Wedding Bell Blues a song I'm quite familiar with. It turned out that she was writing songs like Carole King for big stars, but not getting the recognition that Carole got or other stars like Prince did later.
In 2003 I was fortunate enough to be on a cruise with The Fifth Dimension headlined so I heard again, live, at least three of the songs she wrote.
