little Zoey's visit today triggered this one

Poem Artwork

Once I was a little girl
I loved to dance and do big twirls
shiny golden was my hair
and lived my life without a care.

Every day was filled with play
every night we kneeled to pray,
and then my mommy sat and read
a story when I went to bed.

I loved to run with my two brothers
through the fields to play with others,
many kids lived on my street
we shared our toys and sometimes treats.

My biggest hero was my dad
because I never saw him sad.
With all my heart I did admire
that he saved people from a fire.

When I grew bigger, almost five
my skills on wheels began to thrive.
I guess I am my brother's alike
because I loved to ride my bike.

The most excitement I remember
was one pretty day before December
I went on a drive with my daddy
to visit Troy and Becca for a chatty.

They had a horse so pretty and black
and with a mane down to her neck
her nose nudged me right in the middle
she was much fun it made me giggle.

My tiny hand offered her a treat
which she took careful and very neat.
I got to pet her shiny coat,
sat on her back as an easy load.

Today I sit and write this poem
no girl anymore, I am all grown.
But on this winter day cold and snowy
I saw myself in little Zoey.

Lovely light-hearted images of childhood, told so appropriately in the coice of innocence.

This is so beautiful and you walk down memory lane and remember a time when life was simple as seen through the eyes of a child....

To look back with the ability to see the past through our children's eyes and the wonders that they can see is precious commodity to be treasured. Youth whether our own or our childrens is fleeting at best so each second must be cherished. Great capture here Rebecca.
