The MOUNTAIN TOP View
It doesn't start with you,
Until there's the vision of you....
I know now what will keep me above everything - it's nothing new,
It's the Mountain-Top View.
Sustaining me every step along this rocky way,
Where puffing & panting, the steep climb
seems so keenly felt day by day,
Is the constant vigilant thought:
[when temptation cries better to quit then to have fought.]
That no matter how difficult each plodding step has been -
When I reach the Mountain-Top
All the struggle and pain is forgotten
And I behold all the beauty of the
MOUNTAIN-TOP VIEW.
Step by step, higher & higher
Never giving in, never believing the liar:
"You'll never make it - you're far too weak.
It's not worth it, you'll never reach the peak."
Thought by thought, steadfastly up I go,
The chasm of my old denied self threatens to pull me below.
"No one could become strong who was once so frail,
And the road you've taken is an endless trail..."
You must rally to mind your soldiers of good resolve,
Out of sight behind the hill of your present doubt.
"This situation I have created and can therefore dissolve."
BELIEVE: "Over the hill, that cavalry will come, it will! (you shout)
You have the power to bring to mind the one empowering thought (that must be brought:)
"The way to happiness is not to turn back but to pass on through."
I hold to my steeply climbing resolve:
"You can be a new man, yes you can (a new life!)
Step by step - higher & higher, stay the course!
You won't give in - "You can be a new you."
When I behold the MOUNTAIN-TOP VIEW!

And Ronald, I found your poem down there, so I'm steeling it... finders keepers... --Charlie

It also reminded me of the time I was in Guatemala. The guy in the tourist office suggested that I climbed the hill outside town called the candleria for its religious candles. I ignored his suggestion and climbed the Volcano Agua instead. It took me about four hours walking to reach the 11,000 foot level. After that, I could only take about three steps before I had to stop and let my legs come back to me from oxygen deprivation. I never got to climb into the crater, but I did reach the mountaintop -- alone.
Keep climbing that mountain in Florida until you can see above the Palm trees coast-to-coast, like I did atop Agua.

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
Having been surrounded by mountain peaks when I lived in Salt Lake City, and having to endure countless climbs over life's ragged ranges, I love the inspiration in these lines! Beautifully penned, a keeper; thank you! Just keep climbing - when you get to the top, the view will be spectacular!
(((HUGS)))) and love, Karla.
