Believe it or not this was a song I sort of half wrote back in my rock/synthesizer days in the 1980's - for a band of progressive "Christian music" that we briefly formed in a church in Deland. It was premature more for the other musicians than me. But I was also on kidney dialysis, so where could I go? We had no money and not many places to play... so it was on to jazz and the piano. I pretty much only set the chorus and opening to my synthesizer track I still have which actually makes good instrumental music.
But this goes to show just how long I've been concerned about our "ecology"
Despite the intensification of our global challenges and of the "exploiters" to get it ALL BEFORE IT'S GONE (read OIL and YOUR MONEY!)
Our Creator will not let us destroy HIS world but perhaps may not stop us from destroying ourselves in the process. No he reserves the right to end this world. But it is quite possible we could eliminate ourselves as a viable and civilized species with enough apathy and greed. And then perhaps "evolution" will turn "creation" onto a different path.
God never hurries (we do!) He's got nothing but Time to see how we behave...
He is testing YOU and ME and, it is Up to Us...to save the day and ourselves.
Perhaps less selfishness is the cure.

It's Up to You (It's a Door You Can Walk Through)
See the demo tape for Wings of the Wind, and use the synthesizer tracks to work up the vocal part.

Spirit’'s gonna go over that mountain like a River of Wind.

Flying like a cloud, swallowing the darkened day,

And making Earth whole again;

Sweeping the pestilence of greed away,

Giving us power to begin and,

Taking back what is HIS to make it whole again.

chorus:
             Now it's up to you,
          It's up to me,
To see what we need to see.
To do what you ought to do.

Excuses won't buy time

You can walk through,

but it's up to you.

You may re-arrange the law,

BUT you can't change matter

From responding through the causes

we put our minds to.

Time is now, rather than latter,

to take on the dismantlers,

Before they take apart our common sense.

They’ll hand it back to you as fodder,

For their big greed machine,

That's turning brown everything that once was green,
And turning the blue planet a darker hue.

But it’s up to you; it’s up to me,

To take a step…

 So find your voice

IT'S A DOOR, you can walk through…

chorus:

            But it's up to you,

            It's up to me,

To see what we need to see.

To do what we know we ought to do.

Guy - You make me wonder how long it will be and what catastrophes will happen before we learn to put ecology before profit, maybe when it's more profitable to preserve the world than it is to destroy it. Excellent write. - David

I wonder how many earths have come and passed away before this one-- millions? Could a person count them? You dig your toes into the dirt to hold onto something... something you can feel a part of/apart from... there is nothing that holds us here. Nothing. Nothing but family, friends, and love...the only bands that reach beyond the grave, where finally you become truly a part of the world/apart from...?

But see, that's the whole point. The reason why this earth's gotten this bad, is beacause that's all anybody ever seems to think about--just the momentary satisfaction of a day--of a life--certainly not beyond the grave... It is selfishness, more than any other force--more than consumption of water, gas, oil, produce... which has depleted us so. Selfishness. Greed. Momentary satisfaction.

In the end, it is reaching out beyond our selves that will save the world's bacon. --charlie

Thanks for being environmentally conscious, 'way back then.' I hated waste, greed, and wanton destruction I saw around me as a child. I lived in polluted cities with decaying industry all around. Loved hunting and fishing and the preservation of wild habitat.

His grace will get us through, but IT is up to each of us how we proceed. This is uplifting and sets my heart on fire.

This is so wonderful and fitting for today's times. Too much greed runny rampid and little care for mother earth. Perhaps we will put ourselves out of existence, but God IS always observing and I would think he is not too happy as to how we have taken care of his Eden....

Be always safe,
Karen

We must voice our opinions, let them be heard by our congressmen whom we elect with hopes for them to make better laws and to help us people living, depending on them to stand up for our rights. Nature surely is getting the worst treatment with forest fires, trashy highways, people using their destructive forces to clean out the animals in the forests, oceans, and wherever.

Michael,

A wonderful reminder about the way we are treating out planet, and how we all must remain accountable for it. Super.

Michael,

A powerful song with a moral: it seems man is determined to live a sad and lonely existance: wiping out all of God's creatures, the water, the air - all of its natural resources - in the end times, my friend, in the end times. Believe it - seeing it in the apathy of mankind: "in the last days ... the love of many will wax cold." Indeed. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
