~Why the Caged Bird Sings...

The small bird began building her cage at a tender young age.
She knew the cage was necessary for her survival.
The cage was never built to keep her in, rather to keep danger out...
Every time she was crushed with words, she added another bar.
When she felt her heart broken and bruised, she added another.
There were many times she was afraid, feeling lost and alone, she added more.
At last the cage was complete, with a door that only she could open.
She would leave the cage when she heard the echo's of cries calling her name.
Lost birds, that needed a helping heart, a song, a dance...
She would fly willingly into the clouds of pain, sorrow, and heartache.
Back in her cage, she finds rest and comfort and peace.
A safe haven filled with all she needs to be happy and content...
The caged bird sings because pain, sorrow, and heartache taught her the Song...
