The Sounds of Laughter

The sound of a newborn cooing is like a gurgling brook.

The sound is gentle, delightful and makes you want to look.

The sound reminds you of wonderment.

Hearing a child coo is to delight in knowing breath-taking amusement.

When you hear a toddler laugh, you know excitement.

Can you hear the gleeful laugh and giggle?

It is full of surprise.

It is an unexpected delight at discovery.

Your heart takes flight when you hear that giggle erupt into a full-hearted laugh.

As we grow, laughter takes on different sounds and qualities.

Some laughs remind you of wind chimes tinkling in the wind.

It is light and full of energy.

Some laughs remind you of kettle drums percussion:

Deep and full of emotion.

Some laughs remind you of an orchestra tuning all their instruments at once.

Not only does it squeak, it’s shrill, it’s loud and it’s soft.

Some laughs remind you of a boiling pot of water.

It just keeps bubbling.

The most wondrous laugh reminds me of the ending of an orchestral piece.

It starts out with the gentle strumming of guitars and violins.

Add the trumpets.

Feel the laughter starting to swell?

Now add the drums.

The laughter culminates with the strong punctuation of the cymbals.
