LEMONS OR LEMONADE?
By Kathy Armijo

Happiness is sometimes equated with sappiness.
In a world fraught with sadness,
Happiness can only come from within.

Happiness does not depend on others.
It doesn’t come from your friends, father or mother.
It is a state of mind.
You are the only one who can make this find.

We’ve all heard make lemonade out of lemons.
Life is sometimes bitter.
Life is sometimes sweet.
My preference is to make my life genuine,
Regardless, of whether it is lemons or lemonade.
I am not afraid.
I will make my own happiness!

Happiness is the strength in times of trials.
To look for the silver-lining will make you smile.
Happiness brings joy to all aspects of your life.
Only you can choose to be happy.

When you are happy, life is infinitely more tolerable.
To not be happy is horrible.
Unhappiness leads to desolateness.
This is truly deplorable.
You have to make your own happiness.

Happiness is the most fulfilling state of mind.
Here, you can let your heart soar.
Happiness allows you to know that you are truly wonderful.
Happiness frees your creativity.
Happiness cures all ailments.

At the end of the day, it is you who makes your happiness.
What is your preference?
Sucking a lemon or enjoying refreshing lemonade?
Whatever your preference, your happiness is up to you.

Kathy, happiness is the root of being able to reach goals, reach out and touch someone else, giving a smile to someone who needs it...happiness is a major necessity in peoples lives without it we are depressed and unhappy campers. I enjoyed this.

Kathy you are right with this one, not to say that people don't have a right and need from time to time to feel and express the other emotions like sadness and anger but it is the ability to bounce back and find a reason to be happy again that defines who we are. Love this one and it's happy message.

How wise you are in your poem. Often you can see it in their face: just ignore my eyes, lack of glasses:)

To not be happy is horrible: spot on. Some people are so miserable, all they want to do is make everyone around around them the same awful way. So sad. An excellent thought provoker you pen, Kathy; well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
