Christmas in Heaven

God called his angels
To gather around
It is that time of year on earth
Where people celebrate His birth

To each angel He gave a task
Open the hearts of the humans
Nudge their giving to extend
To charities, homeless, and those less fortunate

He also reminded them to leave
Each with a wonderful gift
A gift of a smile
That stretches from ear to ear

This smile will be with them
Throughout the whole year
As a loving reminder
Of Christmas cheer

The angels descended upon earth
Reminding humans of His birth
Many heard their “hark”
And endeavored to share their bounty

Throughout the land
On Christmas Eve
As His birth was celebrated in churches
The angels stood guard while people prayed

They, too, bowed their heads
Praising God that they were saved
Upon their brief return to heaven
God thanked them for the smiles they’d left
And helping Him tend His flock
