Worn.  Tattered.  Still Beautiful!
By Kathy Armijo

Worn.  Tattered. Still beautiful!
What comes to mind?

A heart?
The American Flag?
Love?
A home’s threshold?

YES!  It is all of these.
Each bears many scars.
Jogging our memory to contemplate what we hold dear.
Reminding us to “have no fear.”

So, let us celebrate
Before it is too late
The beauty of our life
As we struggle to overcome strife.

Endeavoring to cling to joy
As we let love flow
Through our collective and individual pride in that
Which “floats our boat!”

Keeping “it” still beautiful

Author’s Note:  Inspired by Susan K. de Vegter’s poem “Worn Old News” – Tuesday, January 22, 2008

Kathy this is a timely poem for if ever we needed hope to continue it is now, and if we look at all the blessings God has given us,we should have no trouble having "collective pride" and coming together.
Thank you!

Well done Kathy and the title alone gripped my imagination ut as I read on I enjoyed the fact that yes many things in our life including our own tired bodise are worn and tattered but we have earned that wear and tear.

Oh-Oh!!! worn and battered yes, but beautiful? what comes to mind hearing those words are what right they are and not to see in the mirror too often.
The poem, though, compells one to open that old drawer full of old memories and rummage into its contents until we find that old postcard with the fading "I love you"...

This is a catalyst for everyone. Bless your heritage and keep it loved. This world is a blend of many and respecting those who are different is all we can ask as we are different to those others as well. Your wisdom is enforcement for positive change in a world gone nuts. Hopefully a little of your wisdom and a little of mine and other peers and people will grow and grow. As the "Butterfly affect" is real so is the positive that can out weigh the negatives in this world. Keep it going and keep close. We all need to hang together.

Love and blessings!
