Before
By Kathy Armijo
Before I could be
They took this embryo
To view, scientifically
Researchers wanted to see
About eliminating medical anomalies
Dissecting and cloning cells
As a fertilized egg
I had potential
Of being
A president
A teacher
A parent
But they want to change history
Change God’s plan for how
To live ethically
We talk with the remorse
About removing God from our culture
Yet, we try to be God-like
When we disregard
Morality and ethics
When purporting and supporting embryonic stem cell research
Roe v Wade supports abortion
Many of us disagree
But we are in the minority
As researchers move forward
With the expectation of transcending life
What will ultimately become of you and me?
Life with all its maladies
Was meant to give us strength
To rise above infirmities
To draw us closer to Him
Who created us in His likeness
And grow in His love
If researchers will use only adult stem cells
There is no potential for moral decay
Nor will life be just another business enterprise
All matters involving collective interests should be dealt to final presentation for the voting decision. Proposition One: FREE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH. Proposition Two. NO SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH WITHOUT PRE-APPROVAL of majority vote.
"Before" has delivered a stimulating social awareness, and has paid its poetic dues.
I congratulate its author for her courage and intellectual brilliance.

"Life with all its maladies

To rise above infirmities
To draw us closer to Him

And grow in His love"
I especially love these lines... without opposition we would have no strength.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
About removing God from our culture
Yet, we try to be God-like
A modern-day attribute that I believe is our worst fault, and what I believe will eventually lead to our very own destruction.
Keep on speaking for those who don't have a say, Kathy; food for thought! Good write!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(
