I hear your words
But where is the comfort?

I feel your embrace
But where is the warmth?

I see you smile
But where is the joy?

I hear your laughter
But where is the mirth?

I smell the rain as it reaches the earth
But where is the cleanliness?

Where, oh where is the beauty of life?
It appears that cynicism has stabbed my heart with a cold knife
Is it despair that I feel?
Perhaps I should stop contemplating life’s raw deal

Too long I have sat on laurels
Viewing life through fogged portals
It is time to remember “that” from which I came
Time to get into life’s wondrous game

In case you haven’t been in my sights
I’m sure you’ve guessed my plight
The blahs and poor baby have gotten the better of me
But little by little, I’m getting back to being bouncy

I miss the old me
The one whose life when it had muck
Knew she could always feast on orange duck
And feel her life overflow with good luck

I miss the old me
The gal with rose-colored glasses
Quick to spout a remark with sass
And feel the laughter gurgle deep from within this lass

I miss the old me
You know, the one who had heart
The one who could put her life together when it came apart
And still all the while whip up one heck of a tart

Well, I found her the other day
A little older and more tired for lumps thrown her way
She’s had hell to pay
But she’s back to rule the day… yeah!

Kathy,
I never gave up hope for that beautiful soul to bounce back. I have been praying and wishing she would return to her own self. Now make it much better this time. Make your life a place where you really feel "like home"! You can do it my friend, you CAN do it!
Much love, light and peace,
Amber "V"

That a gal Kathy, I've missed you and I sure hope those blah times are a thing of the past as your poetry has always been so uplifting and full of romance. God bless you.

I love the whole poem because I can relate to it, Kathy; and I love the positive and validating end to it. Love and best wishes to you,

Your well written poem sounds like the tides of life with the ebb and flow that we all experience. Always remember as times and lives change, whether good or bad, "this too shall pass"
