Written for my friendsGlen and Paulette at the tragic death of their son
I will forever remember that day
The terrible news came that sent me
Running into the hospital emergency room
And there he was as if dead
Lying on a cold steel railed bed
It seemed his importance was no more For no doctor,or nurse looked his way.
I ran to him, shook him but got no response
In fear I bent low to his ear
And whispered his name
I called once, got no response
I called twice I got no response
As fear gripped me I put my lips closer
To this dying man’s ears and in desperation
Made one last call.
His eyes flew wide opened with surprise
But his face showed he was quite annoyed
I then realized I had disturbed his sleep
I hugged him, I was so happy he came back
I blurted out I thought you were dead
He chuckled and said
“Now I can tell you what death is like
My dear you feel nothing “.
And so life goes on as usual
With its pleasure joys and pains
With hopes and fears
Loss and gains
But sometime when the going
Gets really rough and tough
He would turn to me and cynically say
Why did you call me back that day?
In my quiet meditations
I realize sometime we must allow
God to have his way
There is a feeling of calm and serenity one experiences when on deaths bed that only those who are called back from the brink can really understand and wish they were not called back.
Perhaps "..Quiet Storm" will help rekindle old flames buried and long forgotten or express the love so deeply locked inside of your soul longing to be released.
