I have had a relationship without many words in the end, and it was very stressful and painful. This is a broad depiction of those times. Thank you for this...you are a thoughtful soul with lovely expression.

Carin Spirit I really can relate to this poem! There were times when my youngest daughter could speak no words, and she would try so hard to communicate and only muffled sounds would come out. As her mom I would say yes to all the sounds, and one day I could see the frustration and dismay on her face. I cried oh God help me to communicate with her. Words are so important in relationships.

Sometimes words aren't needed...with a hug, a kiss...but...the flip side of that is the cold silence that cuts like a knife and kills the soul. Amazing how the same action can bring such different feelings. Communication is so incredibly important!

I think there are times when we can communicate on a positive level without words.....but there are times when a lack of words can cut like a knife. Excellent thoughts.

Hi Carin' Spirit, The first thing I think of when I read this is what happened to being "a man of your word". Words without actions are meaningless, and it seems to be the way people have become. They either speak many words and say nothing, or they are silent and speak loudly. Thank you for sharing this.... it's a deep subject...

Silence is not golden, and silence is the most cruel response, specially to a loved one. "There is a time to speak, and a time to be silent." You put it all together so effectively.

Without words we communicate telepathically...I look at my dog and know what he wants, just by his look, just like reading a book...e

Sometimes it is better to remain silent, gather up your thoughts and procede from there....
