Poem Artwork

a sweater required
this Sunday morning
as I absorb the sunshine
rising over the Junipers

the sky seems to be
a new shade of blue
brighter than maya
less dark than azure

a wide open eye
upon a neighboring birch
seems to wink in agreement

the elder women
in the village
slowly appear
and gather together
making the sojourn
to the Nazarene
across the street

perhaps they’ll
absorb a phrase or two
and find salvation
upon the pews

a car drives by
slinging the weight
of Sunday papers
in a sporadic pattern
to its subscribers

to me
those are other worlds
as I observe their
existence from
my garden chair

today birds sing
and
sun beams bring
the knowledge
of what I need
exactly in this moment

and it feels like
god is present

My father used to tell me: Stay in touch with nature and you shall stay in touch with God. Your poem reminds me of those words. Thank you, Debby. Love and best wishes to you,

Regis

I looked at the sky and thinking about my first cup of morning coffee I said aloud, "I am thirsty"...suddenly a drop of water hit my face.
God was listening.

...and it felt like you invited us all in to sit a spell in your garden and sip on quietly on our coffee as we watched the world that you presented. Well done.

We don't have to look very hard to find God, He is ever present.
