Halloween Night

A night for one and all,
a celebration of our fall;
as devilish shadows stalk
and witches plan to walk.

The ghostly apparitions sigh
and creepy crawlers feel
as masked creatures lie
for a candy bargain steal.

Pumpkin-eyed goblins revel,
vampires, werewolves bellow;
scarecrows stare eye-level,
while pirates call us yellow.

I listen to taunts and boos
and laugh at monster faces-
a yearly ritual muse;
my poor heart … races.
