In the center room,
Of a lonely home,
Sits a table grand,
Where no one will roam.

Once upon a time,
Love would fill this place.
Laughter would subside.
Heads would bow in grace.

With abundant love,
They would gather ‘round,
In this central place,
Unity was found.

Now the table sits
Lonely in this room,
No one gathered ‘round
Hearing silence loom.

Everyone now lives
In constant dismay.
They rush to and fro,
Lives in disarray.

But if they would stop,
If just for a day,
Someone might listen
To something they’d say.

I pray they restore
This old piece of wood,
And sit down to eat
Like families should.

Communion is part
Of God’s special plan.
Dust off the table
Its purpose is grand.
