in 1983 a Romanian woman I was visiting on Christmas showed me some sort of holy bread she had saved in her Christmas offerings. (in a special box)

The bread was flat like in this photo, but charred like a perfect flour tortilla.
All I remember is it tasted very bland dry and it was very brittle.
But also she had it for a long time.
(hemin bread maybe?)
She told me it was the last of her sacred bread and she offered me a piece.
She told me to open my mouth for blessings.
Anyway This Poem Is Dedicated to you Charlotte...and Your Puissant Soul

Her Puissant Soul

Altruistic pathways

are chiseled in love’s permanence.

Continuums of these sacral truths

refining pool’s ripple

are ceremonial marmorean stones

endowering regality within stillness.

Ebullitions of moldering calamities

evermore abandon into motet pathways.

Arising to know virtue’s sangfroid offertory,

victuals of breaded faith are placed peaceably

upon the pursing lips of her puissant soul…

Vickie, as Felix, Georg and Dan elude to, this certainly appears to have been a communal type of bread and the ceremony, or rite of passage similar to. From what you have related in your poem, this was a significant event for you, as your recollections of the event are clear. A rendering that plants seeds of questioning. I enjoyed it very much. May peace and love be always with you my dear friend. Jon Michael

yes as Georg said it soes sound like a type of communion, so many religions have common denominators such as communion bread or special foods and drinks.

After reading your poem two times I came up with these words from the bible. "Do this in remembrace of me."

I really like what you wrote.

Now if you'll excuse me I need to look up some very unfamiliar words.
Cheers,
Dan

It makes me to think about communion...and a secret place in our hearts.
