Poem Artwork

As I reach the front walkway

My mind races forward to

Tasks that lie ahead.

Abruptly, they cause me to stop -

Tiny vibrant jewels that seem to have effortlessly

Pushed their way up through the earth.

Crocuses in shades of violet and yellow

Seem to smile up at me as they

Joyfully welcome this spring morning.

As I move past, I glance over my shoulder,

Marveling at their beauty once more, wondering if they made

Their appearance yesterday, or perhaps even the day before.

It is then I make a mental note

To become more aware

Of the beauty that surrounds me.

IT IS ALWAYS RIGHT THERE...HIS ARTISTRY...JUST WAITING FOR US TO BEHOLD AND BE FILLED WITH THEIR BEAUTY. THE IMAGERY IN THIS WORK IS JUST WONDERFUL...I COULD ALMOST SMELL THEIR FRAGRANCE IN THE AIR. THANKS FOR SHARING, LOVE AND BLESSINGS, JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

I can only repeat what everyone else said this time, Dawn.
We all need to take stock of those little things more often.

after the mental note, it becomes a gift of permanence.
Indeed, beauty is all around us, as in your bio pic...

Excellent! This is absolutely beautiful both in its composition and message. Splendid use of tercets, outstanding imagery...while reading this all I could see was our crocuses beside the front porch...which only a week or so ago, were buried under more than a foot of snow.
Now they are, as you aptly describe them, vibrant jewels...This is good, Dawn.

To become more aware
Of the beauty that surrounds me

Indeed, Dawn! That is something we all ought to do a lot more of. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

Beautiful photograph of such colorful flowers! I'm sniffing them and the sweet frangrance is permiating my senses. Always wonderful when everything comes alive after a long winter sleep....

Be always safe,
Karen

Absolutely beautiful, Dawn, the reminder to look at the small things of God - they are often the most beautiful. Well done!!

It is far too easy to become so wrapped up in our daily lives that we fail to stop and appreciate the simple things, such as a crocus or a violet's bloom. If we would all vow to pause and reflect upon such beauty, we'd not only benefit from the glory that surrounds us, but also from the benefits of releasing stress and enjoying life.

Beautiful writing, Dawn.
Thanks,
Jill

All too often we forget to be aware... I know I am certainly guilty of this in my life! Thanks for the reminder to stop, look, and listen...

First, I want to be where you are! Second, this is a lovely expression and again demonstrates how wonderful it is to be aware of our world and when we carry beauty deep within us, we will always find it outside ourselves as well - like attracts like!

Once again, you've learned "Beauty's" secret.; - If you don' look for it, Beauty will seek you out... and win. Your poem is so quiet and gentle, even the Crocuses are happy. I enjoyed this touch of Spring as America is still caught up in the freeze or chill of Wintertime. You write with deep sincerity. - Bill

Beautifully written and brilliantly stated is the premise of this piece of literary excellence . . . We all, each of us need to slow down long enough to . . . "Smell the roses" . . .

Thank you for the gentle but quite beautiful reminder and also timely, as we await the arrival of even more snow this afternoon, I can take comfort in knowing that at lease someone is seeing spring flowers.
