Driftwood

He floats through

The sea of his

Life, searching for his lost identity.

Thoughts -

Dispersed -

Scattered like

Shells washed up on

A beach, then quickly pulled out with the tide.

Stones

Smoothed by

Ocean’s ebb –

Hidden beneath

Sand – much like hope – waiting to resurface.

Brings hope to me and remembering in school when we learned about petrified wood. It is long lasting, giving hope that our world will be longlasting too.

Wonderful thoughts and a shining wisdom. Love title of your story: An unconditional love. I have a story of same title

These are the most mature and logical words about the much used one of, "Hope." Surely, you've wirtten a poem for our continued study and be guided by them. Too, it is so delicate, I hesitate to touch.

Explain? I can't. - Bill

This is excellent work, Dawn. Very polished and honed, yet deceptively "simple". A true gem. It's pearly quality resonates within each of your readers, I think. TY Kate xx

So much one can identify with here. So often it feels like ones world with never turn around and forever be a stone 'neath the sands of time, forgotten and lost....

beautiful poetry Dawn...though a stone may be moved many times...it will one day find the smooth foundation of its being...washed with oceans tears...remembered in lifes sands. Your words uncover the promise of hope...bring our thoughts to the surface.
excellent Dawn...

The combination of your picture and poem come together like nature intended...and when our Sea of Hope smooths us over, once again, we will resurface, to face another wave, another possibility of being tossed and turned in life's waters, only to realize we've traveled very little, but now, realize...we know so much! Your poem takes me for the ride!
Love it!
Love and Peace~

I love this! You always say things so perfectly, Dawn...
What I loved about the photo was that it actually looked like a tree carved in a tile or something. I thought the stone was a leaf...OOPS! (We are building a house and have been looking at tile...maybe I have looked at one too many tiles lately??) But after reading the poem, it actually made a little sense to have what I thought was the picture... a leaf that has fallen from the tree of life for a little while...but there is always the promise of spring and the renewal that it brings. Or the analogy that God is the tree of life from which we all spring and that if he could find his roots there then he would have hope again... (Okay, so maybe my analogies are a little far-fetched, but... it didn't make me feel so blind and silly...hee, hee...)

In the darkness of man's disparity we often feel overwhelmed by life's dissappointments but it is true like in this poem there is always hope and perhaps all it does take is a good tide to wash away the sand to once again reveal the gems.

This is very interesting and sparks many thoughts. For instance, floating like driftwood might seem to some like living life having no conscious intention about destination, but to others it might be something to which to aspire: living in a state of non-resistance (going with the flow). "Thoughts dispersed" is also very intriguing as it could be construed to mean that the mind is a bit scattered and unfocused, or it could mean letting go of things that no longer serve us. Hidden, but smoothed stones also open the reader up to questions about a Self that has been touched favorably, perhaps, by time, but that sometimes allows itself to be obscured by the occassional abrasive moments of life. Wonderful!
